1 July 2010
Taipei

Though there is 6 hours time difference between Taiwan and South Africa, before the Round of 16 starts, 8.47 million Taiwanese, around 38.5 percent population, still followed World Cup matches through TV broadcast from June 11 to June 25.

Up to June 25 (June 26 Taipei time), the average TV rating of all the matches in Taiwan is 0.94%, 8.47 million people, amounting to 38.5 percent of the Taiwanese population. Portugal vs. Brazil match on Friday night, June 25, reaches the highest TV rating to 2.19% with 2.08 million people watching TV broadcast, followed by Argentina vs. South Korea’s 2.11%, with 1.65 million viewers on June 17, and 1.94% TV rating for Spain vs. Switzerland on June 16.

Since there are a couple of matches shown on Taipei’s daybreak time, most TV ratings were not as high as primetime. However, thanks for the national holiday ‘Dragon Boat Festival’, Brazil vs. North Korea match shown at 2:00am June16 Taipei time still reaches 0.83% TV rating with 430,000 viewers.
